Shimla : Chief Minister Hon’ble Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made a significant and commendable move by restoring the Old Pension Scheme for employees, thereby establishing himself as a pro-employee leader. For this progressive decision, the entire employee community expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the present government.
However, the New Pension Scheme Employees' Federation has emphasized that all previously granted employee rights and benefits must be preserved. During a phased hunger strike, the Federation’s State Vice President Mr. Sanjeev Sharma urged the government and the education department to initiate a constructive dialogue with the Primary Teachers’ Union.
He stated that there must be serious and detailed discussions on the demands of the primary teachers, and solutions should be reached through mutual understanding. He also demanded that the retaliatory actions taken against teachers following the protest held on April 26, 2025—such as suspensions and police FIRs—should be immediately withdrawn.
Sanjeev Sharma further stressed that India is a democratic nation founded on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, where peaceful protest and dissent are constitutional rights. Suppressing those who protest is deeply unfortunate and entirely undemocratic and unconstitutional. He urged the government to reverse these actions without delay.
